This is the upcoming BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe, the five-door version of the new BMW 4 Series, unveiled just a month ago at the Detroit Motor Show.
We’re not sure wherever the market really needs a car like this one, if is to judge after the sales figures of the 5 Series GT (a complete failure for BMW), but the German automaker once again believes that there are some buyers out there that are looking for the style of the 4 Series model and the practicality of a sedan.
As expected, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe will feature the same overall length and wheelbase as the coupe model, but with a taller roof. In addition, the hatchback opening will help you load big items with ease.
Regarding the engine lineup, the 4 Series GT will mirror the coupe, so at the beginning expect a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine in the 428i that will deliver 240hp, and a 3-liter turbocharged in the 435i GT capable of 300hp. The less powerfull petrol unit will be found on the 420i Gt model, and will develop about 180 hp.
A sporty M Performance model is also expected (if rumors are true, it will use the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder delivering 425 hp) and transmission choices should include a standard six speed manual and the optional eight speed automatic gearbox.
