The anniversary special edition is going to be limited to 200 units, even though it comes to celebrate four decades of existence for the flagship BMW model – we do agree 40 units would have been too few.
BMW is going the traditional way – both the 5 Series and 3 Series have gotten their own anniversary editions as of late, so the flagship 7 Series is also joining the commemorative party. BMW is signaling four decades of flagship sedans, with the limited series offered with the M aerodynamic package, in standard and long wheelbase guises, with or without xDrive, and with all six, eight, and twelve cylinder engines – as well as the plug-in hybrid electrified version. The Dingolfing factory in Germany will handle assembly duties for all 200 units, with the plant having churned out the 7 Series since way back in 1977.
Owners of the 7 Series Edition 40 Jahre will have to choose between a Frozen Silver metallic paint with a silk-matte sheen or with a Petrol Mica Metallic hue, shades taken from the BMW Individual catalog and dressed with the M Aerodynamics Package and Shadow Line. 20-inch BMW Individual alloy wheels with a V-spoke design as well as a unique signet on the B-pillars and door sills wrap up the changes on the outside. The cabin features soft full leather upholstery in Smoke White/Cohiba or Smoke White/Black, Alcantara Smoke White headliner, a pair of Smoke White comfort cushions, and another signet, as well as Smoke White floor mats with black or brown edge binding, black piano lacquer or wood accents depending on the upholstery.
