As of today, BMW’s infotainment system has a host of new functions, including a dictation function and the latest generation of mobile internet.
Also, BMW launched the new generation of the BMW Navigation system Professional, which has better performance, a design rendered entirely in 3D, a modified display and control concept, as well as many more Navigation, Office and Multimedia functions.
For the first time, the driver will be able to legally compose short texts for emails and SMS messages while driving. This will be done via the dictation function. Also, BMW ConnectedDrive will also offer the function for recording voice memos.
Another highlight of the ConnectedDrive is the LTE Car Hotspot, the next generation of mobile internet. This makes BMW the first car manufacturer to bring the ultimate in high-speed internet to the road. The device will be available for every BMW model.
The automaker also introduces the iDrive Touch Controller, which allows characters to be entered with the finger, lets drivers navigate in maps and websites or magnify them. Finally, BMW’s Software Development Kit (SDK) facilitates the integration of third-party apps into the vehicle’s native control and display logic, allowing drivers to use their favorite smartphone apps in the car.
