BMW has recently announced its plans to introduce an M Performance Power Kit for the 2.0-liter diesel engine at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on the 27th of September.
According to the German based automaker, the company will introduce an M Performance Power Kit for the 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel engine, which will be available on models like the 120d, the 320d and the 520. BMW says that the M Performance Power Kit will include an optimized ECU and a larger charge air cooler and thanks to these options the engine will develop a total output of 197 horsepower (200 PS / 147 kW) and 420 Nm of torque (310 lb-ft).
“The newly structured program in the BMW M Performance product area enables selective customisation with a clear focus on a particularly intensive driving experience. Since spring 2012, BMW M Performance products specially developed for the BMW 5 Series, the new BMW 3 Series and the new BMW 1 Series have been available as part of the Original BMW Accessories range”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
BMW says that thanks to the modifications mentioned above, the cars can accelerate one second faster than the standard models from 0 to 100 km/h but, despite the increased performance, fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions won’t be affected. A power kit for a petrol engine is also expected but there is no word on a possible launch date yet.
