BMW is currently testing out the new FAST (Family Active Sports Tourer) as the model in question has been caught on camera by our spy photographers.
FAST doesn’t have anything in common with speed in this case and it represents the company’s future Family Active Sports Tourer, which will be adding a new body style to the recently introduced front-wheel drive family. This has given birth to the 2-Series Active Tourer earlier this year and it’s now getting ready to introduce the second model, which will be a seven-seater version of the one mentioned above, called the 2-Series Family Tourer.
The vehicle will be basically a mixture between the BMW X1 and vehicles such as the Audi A3 Sportback and the Range Rover Evoque, getting some bits and pieces similar to the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and the Volkswagen Touran. Despite being a family vehicle with front-wheel drive, its price list is expected to be higher than the one of the next-gen X1, which is going to be unveiled next year. The engine options will include 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder turbocharged units, ranging between 100 HP and 230 HP. A Plug-in Hybrid version is also expected. The BMW FAST will be unveiled in early 2016, as a 2017 model year.
