The German based automaker BMW has recently announced that almost 100, 000 requests to test drive the upcoming i3 have been received so far.
BMW is getting busy these days and it’s probably the only automaker with so many models in current development, with one of these models being the i3. According to the German based automaker, almost 100,000 requests to test drive the i3 have been received so far, and a lot of them are from possible customers. The company’s marketing boss, Ian Robertson, is sure that the i3 will be a game changer in the segment which has been quite brutal so far.
The final production version of the BMW i3 was originally expected to make its public debut during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in September, but it seems that the model will be unveiled close to the end of the year. The BMW i3 will be a pure electric vehicle or it will come with a range-extending engine. The latter will get a two-cylinder motorcycle 0.65 liter unit, acting as an auxiliary generator for charging the battery. Prices for the BMW i3 are expected to stand at 35,000 GBP in the UK while in the United States, the model should cost 40,000 USD.
