BMW Group sales reach all-time high in March image

Bayerische Motoren Werke – BMW Ag, the world’s largest premium carmaker by volume sold more vehicles in March than in any other month in its history.

The German automaker has sold a total of 185.728 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles in the past month, not only significantly exceeding the figure for March of last year (165,846 units / +12%) but also the previous sales high of 165,855 vehicles recorded in June 2011.

BMW sales chief Ian Robertson told reporters at the New York auto show last week that the company enjoyed all time high sales in the first quarter with over 400,000 vehicles delivered to customers.

Sales for the year to the end of March rose 11 percent to 356,548 units.
BMW 1 Series 5-door Hatch: +40.8% to 18,598 vehicles
BMW 3 Series Sedan: 29,004 vehicles + 19.2%
BMW X3: + 59.4% to 14,847 units
BMW X5 and X6: 9,496 (+19.7%)/ 4,261 units(+7.3%)
BMW 6 Series: 2,247 vehicles +454.8%
BMW 7 Series: 6,648 vehicles + 14.5%

MINI brand vehicles
Globally, a total of 32,421 MINI vehicles were delivered in March. That’s 5.6 percent more compared to March 2011. The MINI Countryman model was the best-seller with 22,001 vehicles delivered + 6.8% over the same period last year (prev. yr. 16.079).
