The German based automaker BMW is planning to launch the final production version of the i3 by the end of 2013.
The announcement has been made by the company’s chief executive, Norbert Reithofer, who has also talked about the brand new X4, a smaller version of the X6, based on the X3. According to the BMW official, the final production version of the i3 will make its way onto the market by the end of this year. Reithofer also said that a few hundred orders have already been received for the model.
“This is a clear signal to anyone who may still have had any doubts: The BMW i3 is definitely coming onto the market. It will be a reality by late 2013. Several hundred advance orders have already been received for the BMW i3”, said Norbert Reithofer.
As a quick reminder, BMW i3 Coupe has been officially unveiled a few months ago, during the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The model has a different front fascia, a new rear end, restyled doors and some other tweaks, compared to the regular version. The i3 Coupe Concept is powered by an electric motor with 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm of torque (184 lb-ft). The total range stands at 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge.
