BMW i8 by AC Schnitzer looks carbon-ready for Geneva image

While this is not the version we were waiting for – as everyone is eagerly expecting the BMW i8 Spyder – when the aftermarket specialists from AC Schnitzer are involved there’s actually no reason to complain.

The tuner powerhouse has opted to make the spaceship-looking eco-friendly sports coupe a feast for everyone’s eyes with a catchy red chrome body wrap and numerous carbon fiber amenities. Up front there’s a bumper add on complete with wings dipped in carbon fiber mounted on the sides of the bumper. The aggressive side skirts have the same lightweight composition, along with the mirror caps and the door handles. Out in the back, the fixed wing and a three-piece diffuser complete the carbon fiber exterior looks. AC has also decided to eschew the standard alloys for a bespoke set of 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the back shod in 245/35 R21 and 285/30 R21 tires – they also save a total of 4.4 kilograms (9.7 pounds) over the regular ones.

There’s also a custom sports suspension to lower the ride height by 25 mm (almost one inch) at the front and by 20 mm (0.8 inches) at the back – while inside the German aftermarket specialists have prepared different amenities such as an aluminum pedal set, velour floor mats, and an aluminum foot rest. All we have to wait is for BMW to release the Spyder, as well as the refreshed i8 expected to gain more power and a longer range thanks to a new battery.
