The first official images with the 2014 BMW i8 have recently hit the web ahead of the model’s debut scheduled for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, next week.
The German based automaker BMW is trying to keep the new BMW i8, in its final production version, a secret for the moment, but with just a week before its public debut, the first official images with the model have made their way onto the web. The two images posted below are following the model’s teasers and the first thing noticed are the scissor doors and the interior design, which isn’t so different compared to other models in the company’s lineup.
The final production version of the BMW i8 will get a three-cylinder 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine, producing 231 HP (170 kW) and 320 Nm of torque (236 lb-ft), powering the rear axle, while the front wheels will be driven by a 131 HP (96 kW) and 250 Nm of torque (184 lb-ft) electric motor. The total output produced will stand at 362 HP (266 kW) and 570 Nm of torque (420 lb-ft). The 0 to 100 km/h sprint will take 4.5 seconds and top speed will be electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
