BMW i8 gets updated for Geneva image

BMW has officially announced a series of updates for the popular i8 “green” sports car as the model in question will be introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in early next month.

One of the most appreciated vehicles ever to be put together by BMW is the i8, the second addition to the “i” range, and in order to become even hotter, the carmaker has announced a series of updates for it. The model in question will be offered with several new options including the Carpo Carum Grey interior with the Carum Grey leather seats, with the BMW i Blue metallic seatbelts, contrast stitching, Amido metallic trim, high gloss brake calipers, the leather engine cover or the “Pure Impulse Experience Program”.

“Standard specification for the BMW i8 now includes the Pure Impulse Experience program, comprising exclusive lifestyle options in the areas of culture, design, travel and gastronomy in keeping with the progressive and sustainable “next premium” approach of the BMW i brand”, says the carmaker in its official press release.

Under the hood, we will be finding the same plug-in hybrid powertrain, made out of a 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder engine, the electric motor and the lithium-ion battery, which are providing a total output of 362 HP (266 kW). This is enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint made in just 4.4 secodns and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), electronically limited. The average fuel consumption stands at just 2.1L / 100km (134.5 mpg UK / 112 mpg US). More details on the updated version will be announced at the Swiss automotive event.
