The BMW i8 has been completely sold out for the 2014 model year as the company has recently announced.
BMW has managed to develop a successful “i” brand and the second model from it, the i8, is so popular that the entire lineup for the 2014 model year has been completely sold out. It’s currently unknown how many units have found new owners because BMW didn’t say anything about this subject but one thing is for sure, it won’t be long until we will get to see the impressive model in our local dealerships and on the streets.
The BMW i8 has been originally unveiled during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in a premiere, and it’s taking its power from a 1.5 liter three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine. This is coming with 231 HP (170 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. The internal combustion unit is backed up by an electric motor, providing an extra 131 HP (96 kW). The total output produced is 362 HP (266 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, enough for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint made in 4.4 seconds. The total driving range stands at more than 500 km (310 miles) and the average fuel consumption is 2.5L / 100km (113 mpg UK / 94 mpg US).
