The brand new BMW i8 has been recently spied in Monaco where the Bavarian based automaker is currently testing it.
The German based automaker is getting ready to offer the new i8 Coupe to its future customers but before the model will arrive in the company’s dealerships, it has to be tested. And what better place to test a new hybrid supercar than Monaco? The images posted below are showing BMW’s newest creation, the i8 Coupe, in Monaco. The model is wearing camouflage on its body but its lines, inspired from the concept car, are still visible.
The BMW i8 Coupe will hit the market in two body styles, Coupe and Roadster, and the model will hit the market as a rear mid-engined hybrid. Rather than competing with expensive supercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1 or the Porsche 918 Spyder, the BMW i8 Coupe will go against the Honda / Acura NSX and the production version of the Lexus LF-LC. The model is rumored to get a three-cylinder 1.5L engine under its hood, along with an electric motor, which should produce a total output of 353 HP (260 kW) and 550 Nm of torque (406 lb-ft). The 0 to 100 km/h sprint should be done in 4.6 seconds.
