BMW is said to be considering the development of an i9 supercar which will be introduced in 2016.
Rumors on a brand new BMW supercar have been around for a few years now and it seems that these thoughts will be materialized soon. According to the German automotive media, the car manufacturer will be launching the new supercar in a couple of years as the company will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. The model in question will be named the i9 and it will basically be a hotter version of the current i8. The vehicle might be going against some hard names in the industry, such as the P1, LaFerrari or 918 Spyder.
The upcoming BMW i9 will be getting an aggressive styling, a larger engine under its hood and a more powerful electric motor. The hybrid supercar will be more powerful than the current i8 which is packing a 1.5 liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine and an electric motor and it is believed to gain a 3.0 liter six-cylinder unit. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint is said to be made in approximately 3 seconds or less. More details on the hybrid supercar remain unknown for the moment.
