BMW introduces Cruise e-Bike to share the spotlight with the i8 Protonic Dark Silver Edition image

The limited series BMW i8 Protonic Dark Silver Edition now has its own totally green solution – the all-new e-bike companion, but don’t expect to have the money to buy it anytime soon.

Not long ago we saw from BMW the Cruise M Bike Limited Edition that was complimenting the M2 Coupe – and you could buy it for a whopping €1,400. Well, actually that wasn’t expensive at all because the new Cruise e-Bike Limited Edition is no less than €3,500. Being an e-bike and much more exclusive doesn’t excuse the fact – but then again the name does has its price too. Exclusivity is also a fact here, there are only 300 examples made, whereas the M2 companion bike has 1,500 units on the production schedule. All electric bikes will wear a special badge and a certificate to highlight their special status and to mirror the plug-in hybrid sports car, the e-bike will feature a Protonic Dark paint for the frame and an Electric Blue finish for the rims.

It’s based on the regular BMW Cruise e-Bike which costs €3,100, this special edition has a 10-speed gear system and comes with a 400-Wh battery pack good for a range of up to 62 miles (100 kilometers) at a maximum speed of 16 mph (25 km/h). Recharging takes three and a half hours – but if you run out of battery, don’t worry – just flex your muscles and continue the journey.
