The BMW M2 Cabrio will be introduced in a couple of years according to a recent report.
Rumors on the anticipated BMW M2 have started to come out more often and besides the Coupe, the model in question will also be offered as a Cabrio. According to the guys from Autocar, the model in question will be introduced in 2016, following its solid roof version, and it will come in the same specifications too.
The BMW M2 Cabrio, along with its Coupe counterpart, will be coming with a 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder engine, but it won’t be the one used on the M3 and M4. The unit will be brand new and it will be based on the B57 which will make its premiere next year, in the brand new 7-Series.
The engine has been codenamed the S57 B30 and it could produce as much as 400 HP (298 kW) in the M2 Coupe and M2 Cabrio as BMW has calculated it so that it won’t be as powerful as the one in the M4, which is packing 425 HP. The M2 will be coming with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and with an optional dual-clutch 7-speed. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration should take 4.4 seconds and top speed will be electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
