The BMW M2 Convertible is rumored to hit the market in a couple of years but until that will happen, rendering artists will go above and beyond to create their very own interpretations of the vehicle.
Our friends from TopSpeed have put together another interesting rendering. This is showing us how the upcoming M2 Convertible will be looking like once the company will decide to give it a “go”. We are not sure at this point when this will happen exactly, but don’t act too surprised if you will see it sometimes next year, or even in 2017. Chances are this will come with a foldable hardtop and with some added weight to make it cope with the chopped roof.
The same aggressive and appealing design will be maintained as the one of the M2 Coupe and the interior should be identical as well, except for probably the rear seats, which will be less practical. The 3.0 liter M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine will also be maintained under its hood. On the M2 Coupe this is capable of putting down a total of 370 HP (272 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) of torque, available between 1,400 rpm and 5,560 rpm. The rear-wheel drive compact two-door performance vehicle needs 4.5s to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill with the 6-speed manual and 4.3s with a 7-speed automatic, so expect similar performance for the drop-top as well. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
