BMW will be introducing an M2 in a couple of years as the model in question should be inspired by the track only M235i Racing.
Details on a fully-fledged BMW M2 have been around ever since the carmaker has introduced the new 2-Series Coupe and it seems that such a model is just two years away from the production line. According to the guys at leftlanenews.com, a BMW M2 will be coming with a body kit inspired by the M235i Racing, with fender flares, more aggressive side skirts, hood bulge, air diffuser, trunk mounted spoiler and quad exhaust arrangement.
The interior design of the car will be receiving the bucket seats, some carbon fiber trim and a sport steering wheel, amongst others. Power is expected to be provided by a 3.0 liter straight six-cylinder engine, which should produce between 380 HP (279 kW) and 400 HP (294 kW). The unit will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which will be offered as standard, or to an 8-speed automatic, offered as an option, along with the limited-slip differential. The BMW M2 is expected to hit showrooms in 2016. More details on it are limited for the moment.
