The largest luxury automaker in the world, Germany’s BMW, has recently updated the M3 and M4 high performance range with the addition of the new Competition Package.
Availability is tipped for this spring and the Competition Package will be available for both the M4 coupe and convertible, as well as the more practical M3 sedan. The new pack brings exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels and an updated M sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes. The Competition Package also brings the BMW Individual Shadow Line features on the grille, mirrors, and window surrounds. Cabin modifications have been kept equally restrained and will be highlighted by the lightweight M sports seats and bespoke seat belts with BMW M stripes. The goodies addition continue under the body, where the Competition Package boasts an Adaptive M Suspension with new springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars. Owners will also gain an Active M Differential, a refreshed Dynamic Stability Control system, as well as modified driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport+.
The most interesting changes are always reaching the powerplant, and as such the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine will churn out this time around 450 horsepower – a full 19 hp more than the regular models. The M3 and M4 coupe will do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) run in four seconds if treated to the optional seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission, while the M4 Convertible needs 4.3 seconds – meaning all versions boasting the new Competition Package will be 0.1 seconds quicker – even when using the regular manual gearbox.
