BMW has officially pulled the wraps off the M5 “30 Jahre M5” special edition, a model which has been designed to celebrate the M5’s 30th anniversary.
After leaking in an image just earlier this week, the brand new BMW M5 “30 Jahre M5” special edition is finally here as it has been officially unveiled by the German based automaker. The performance sedan has been finished in an Individual Frozen Dark Silver paint and it has some dark chrome accents and bi-color 20-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 265/35 and 295/30 tires, front to rear.
BMW says that the M5 “30 Jahre M5” special edition has a combination of Alcantara and Merino leather in the cabin, along with some aluminum inserts and some special badging, helping the model stand out from a crowd. The carmaker has also fitted this special edition of the M5 with the Competition Package, adding the reprogrammed M Dynamic Mode, the 10 mm lowered suspension system, the new management system of the engine and some stiffer anti sway bars, amongst others.
The BMW M5 “30 Jahre M5” special edition is taking its power from the same 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 engine, but this has received an extra 40 HP (29 kW) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft), to a total of 600 HP (441 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. The 1,870 kg weighing vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds with the standard 7-speed DCT. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Only 300 units of this special edition will be produced but its pricing remains unknown for the moment.
