The German based automaker BMW is planning to develop a supercar, which will be named the M8, and will hit the market in 2016.
Besides the new “i” range, which will include the i3 and the i8, or developing new crossovers like the X2 or the X4, BMW has big plans for other models in the lineup or, in this case, new cars. The carmaker is planning to produce a supercar, which will be named the M8. The model in question is expected to make its way onto the market in 2016. If you’re into it, you should know that the BMW supercar will be anything but cheap, coming at 250,000 EUR (326,000 USD / 211,100 GBP).
The BMW M8 will use the same platform as the i8 and it will be powered by an upgraded version of the 4.4 liter direct injected V8 TwinPower Turbo found on the current BMW M5 F10. The unit is expected to produce a total output of 600 – 650 HP (447 – 484 kW). Power will be sent to the wheels through an eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Additional details on the BMW i8 are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its launch.
