BMW plans to double engine production in China by 2015 image

BMW has its joint venture with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings in China and the giant automaker plans to double the engine production by 2015.

BMW is planning to make an output of 400, 000 units under the partnership agreement and has already unveiled its plans for setting up a second engine plant in 2013 at Shenyang, northeast China. This new plant will be assigned with the production of engines from the year 2015 where the manufacturer expects to make a whopping output of 200, 000 units a year.

The first engine plant of BMW Brilliance also produces 200,000 units of engines each year due to which the group is targeting the second plant to go on same flow. The produced engines will be used by BMW’s locally built models. Currently, BMW Brilliance built BMW X1, 3-Series and 5-series. As far as the sales are concerned, the automaker has sold 139,367 vehicles only in China during the first half of 2012.
