BMW reported record sales in January, up 9.9% to 123,276 BMW, Rolls-Royce and MINI vehicles.
“We made a successful start to the new year, selling more BMW Group vehicles than ever before in the month of January. We remain true to our strategy of balanced sales across the globe by achieving growth on all continents last month,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing BMW.
Last Month was the first January when more than 100,000 BMW vehicles have been delivered globally. Sales increased to record levels thanks to the BMW 3 Series which sold 29,053 units, an increase of 27.9% and the BMW X1 which sold 11,753 units, up 57.8%. The BMW X3 also continued to grow with 10,230 vehicles sold, up 9.4% and so did the BMW 1 Series with 14,222 units sold, up 8.8%.
MINI sales last month reached 15,864 units, an increase of 0.6%, with the MINI Countryman up 11.3% to 6,261 units. In China, the brand’s fourth largest market, sales increased 20.3% to 1,800 units. BMW’s sales in Asia increased 18.4% to 43,114 units, in China the automaker sold 30,397 vehicles, up 14.7%, in Japan it sold 3,250 units, up 19% and in South Korea 2,790 units, up 32.9%.

In Europe, BMW sold 50,594 units, up 8%, with 18,709 units sold in Germany, up 9.9%, and 2,311 vehicles sold in Russia, up 39.8%.
