BMW three-turbo diesel engine

BMW is preparing to launch at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show a 354 hp three-turbo six cylinders in-line diesel engine!
With such power, the Bavarian automaker wants to compete against some V8’s from Mercedes or Audi.
For the moment there are not very much information’s. However, we know that the new engine should be equipped with 3 sequential turbochargers: the result would be 354 hp with maximum torque over 700 Nm.

The first cars to be fitted should be the BMW X5 and X6 - “xDrive 45d. The new engine will be also available on the 7 Series and 5 Series.
