The German based automaker BMW has recently unveiled the three-cylinder 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine, which will make its way onto the market soon.
According to the car manufacturer, the all-new BMW three-cylinder 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo engine is coming with variable load control, direct injection, Valvetronic variable valve control (for the petrol versions) and a turbocharger. Sixty percent of the components and forty percent of structure are shared between the petrol and the diesel engines and the company considers this to be a saving in terms of development and production costs.
“The future is here. The architecture for the new series of models and new engines has already been defined. With the BMW Group’s new Efficient Dynamics family of engines, it is also possible to provide for a wealth of new models of automobile in the coming years”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
BMW hasn’t announced any details specifications on the new engine, but the petrol unit is known to get outputs raging between 121 HP (122 PS / 90 kW) to 221 HP (224 PS / 165 kw) and torque between 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) to 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). The diesel engines will produce between 80 HP (82 PS / 60 kW) and 181 HP (184 PS / 135 kW), with a peak torque between 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft).
