The event center of BMW, named Welt, has become an important tourist attraction – actually the most visited in Bavaria – and in 2013 the combined exhibition, delivery, experience, museum and event center had 2.93 million visitors.
The success cam as the BMW Welt Event Forum and the automobile delivery section reported their best values to date (Welt was opened in 2007 and now tallies around 14 million visitors), while the BMW World was voted the best Design location in Germany and the restaurant “EssZimmer” received a Michelin star and 18 points in the influential Gault & Millau French restaurant guide.
“2013 was for BMW Welt a year of records, premieres and special exhibitions. With the extended brand worlds and new event formats and the gourmet restaurant EssZimmer we could attract more guests than ever. Also this year, expect our visitors from around the world to experience unique and exciting moments in our house, “says Thomas Muderlak, head of the BMW Welt.
In 2013 no less than 21,500 drivers took delivery of their BMW from Welt, while the 2.93 million visitors amounts to an 20 % increase from 2012 (2.45 million) – of which around 60% were from Germany. Still, a good deal of the visitors are foreign, with USA, Russia and Asia well represented, while neighbors form Austria and Italy are regular guests of the Welt.
