It may still be a rendering at this point but we have to admit that it looks even better than the previous ones.
Rumor has it that BMW is going to be offering a new crossover, based on the 2016 X1. This will be called the X2 and it will be following the its larger brothers, in terms of design, the X4 and the X6, and it will basically be an X1 with a sloping roofline and some minor tweaks made to it. The compact crossover will be sharing the same platform as the recently unveiled X1 and it will also share its interior design and engine lineup. The main difference will be the sloping roofline and some minor changes performed to the front and rear fascias.
The future BMW X2 will be offered in a 5-door body style and it will be sportier than the current X1. Rumor has it that it will receive a highly economical 3-cylinder engine under its hood, along with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, rated at more than 300 HP. This will be taking on models such as the Audi RS Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG. The transmission options will include the 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic and front-wheel drive will be offered as standard. Customers will also be able to order their rides with the xDrive all-wheel drive system, but as an option. Additional details on the new BMW X2 are limited at this point.
