According to some rumors, BMW X3 diesel and 7 Series Diesel have been approved for the American market.
For the moment we don’t know what engines will enter in the US market, but most probably, we expect to see the same power plant as found in the X5 xDrive35d and the 335d.
At this moment the only power plant approved by the US EPA is the 3.0-liter turbocharged engine. Based on this engine, the new BMW X3 xDrive35d will get a better performance than the actual X5d, while 0-62 mph acceleration time will get a lillte bit lower.
On the other hand, the bigger 7 Series will get same configuration that is found on the 735d. American 735d will be placed as an entry-level 7er, next to the top pick 740i. While the X3 will be the biggest bet from BMW for the 2011 North American market, 7 series will be a response for the new 2011 Mercedes-Benz S350 4MATIC BlueTec Diesel that will come in US in 2011.
