BMW has unveiled the new X5 Security Plus Concept during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in a premiere.
Besides presenting models like the upgraded 5-Series, the 4-Series Coupe, the new X5, the i3 or the i8, amongst others, the German based automaker BMW has also brought the X5 Security Plus Concept to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The model in question is based on the new generation of the X5 and it will eventually make its way onto the production line, aimed towards customers looking for more protection than what the airbags, seatbelts or safety gizmos can provide.
The new BMW X5 Security Plus has been made around an armored passenger cell and it’s constructed of high strength steel. The model in question can provide protection for four occupants from an AK47 assault. Windows are made from polycarbonate material which can also handle attacks from blunt weapons, as the glass will not shatter into the cabin. The X5 Security Plus is powered by a turbocharged V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 450 HP. No additional details on the model have been provided just yet and these will probably be announced once the production version will become available.
