The German based automaker BMW has recently announced the first official details on the upcoming X7 large luxury SUV, as the model in question will become available in 2017 or 2018.
Rumors on BMW planning a larger and more luxurious SUV than the current X5 have been around for quite some time now but it seems that the model in question will become available for order over the course of a few years, in either 2017 or 2018. The new BMW X7, as it will be known like, will be produced at the Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, which will increase its production, thanks to the 1 billion USD investment, to 450,000 units by the end of 2016.
“Plant Spartanburg was built to enhance and expand the BMW line-up, underscoring the BMW Group commitment to the United States. In addition to the X3, X5, X6, and the new X4, we are today announcing another all-new, larger X model to be manufactured exclusively at this plant for our world markets: the X7”, said chairman of the board of management within BMW Group, Norbert Reithofer.
Little else is known on the upcoming BMW X7 SUV but rumors are saying that the new luxury SUV, signed by the Bavarian automaker, will be riding on the same platform which underpins the next 5-Series and 7-Series generation. The model in question will become a rival for some premium SUVs such as the Range Rover, the Porsche Cayenne or the upcoming SUV from Rolls-Royce, the Bentley SUV, the Lamborghini SUV and so on.
