BMW’s 100th anniversary celebrated with distinct racing livery in Daytona image

BMW Team RLL has recently introduced two tribute 100th anniversary liveries for the equally new BMW M6 GTLM race cars, set to debut during the 24 Hours of Daytona in the US.

The race is the first round of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Bobby Rahal’s team will have the number 25 car sport a look inspired by the iconic BMW 3.0 CSL, which had its first North American season back in 1975 and scored the first victory in Daytona four decades ago. The other BMW M6 GTLM will have the race number 100 in honor of BMW’s anniversary. I hope the fans like the special liveries on our BMW M6 GTLMs to mark the centenary of BMW and our successful history of motor racing in North America. The first highlight of the year, the 24 Hours of Daytona, is just around the corner – and today’s unveiling was the perfect way to warm up for the race debuts of the BMW M6 GTLM and BMW M6 GT3,” commented BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt.

The two race cars also sport a newly developed signet (icon) developed by the group in time for the 100th anniversary communications. The No. 25 car will have all four segments of the signet enriched with a photo of a historically significant racer: the 3.0 CSL; BMW M1 from 1980; V12 LMR from 1999 and M3 GT from the 2011-12 season. The car with the number 100 has a future-inspired livery and BMW added the lattice work element will tie in to other significant announcements later this year.
