BMW will bring an impressive number of new products at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with the Concept Active Tourer, a preview of the brand’s first front-wheel-drive model, taking center stage.
Other new exhibits will include the 1-Series with xDrive, an updated i3 Concept, the new 320i EfficientDynamics and the C Evolution electric scooter.
For the market launch of its xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, BMW will showcase the 120d xDrive and the M135i xDrive. A new addition to the 1-Series range will be the entry-level 114d, a 95-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine using BMW’s TwinPower turbo technology.
The new version of the BMW i3 Concept is focused more on sustainability, according to BMW, as the eucalyptus wood used for the instrument panel comes from a “sustainable cultivation source” in Europe.
BMW’s C Evolution is a near-production prototype of an electric scooter, which has a range of 62 miles and can be recharged at a household power socket. It has a twin-tipped spoiler, a helmet compartment and Electric green paint.
The German carmaker will also premiere the new 320i EfficientDynamics Edition sedan, whose 170 hp 2.0-liter engine is described by BMW as the most economical gasoline engine in the carmaker’s range. The engine delivers the equivalent of 44 mpg and accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds.
BMW will also showcase the new 316i sedan powered by a 136-hp 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine.
