BMW’s “i” brand has inspired a carbon fiber dress image

Meet twins Daniela and Annette Felder from Germany who decided they should create a unique dress that has been crafted from carbon fiber sourced from the BMW i3 and i8.

The artists of the fashion world are well known to repeatedly take inspiration from the automotive industry and many of the creations can be quirky or downright odd. You be the judge of this – Daniela and Annette Felder have a London-based design studio called Felder Felder – and they decided to create something entirely unique for their prime piece of their 10th Anniversary Collection. All bits and pieces have been sourced from up-cycled and sustainable fabrics and the highlight is known as the “Carbon Dress.”

Inspired by the BMW i models, the metallic grey skater dress was done after more than 100 hours of work and 97 percent of it is carbon fiber. The result is something entirely debatable, of course, but we can see the unique texture mimics well the finish of BMW’s i3 & i8 duo of eco-friendly cars. The material is “more tactile and daring compared to other fashion fabrics,” and all the material for the dress was sourced from the exact same production facility BMW uses for its i3 plug-in hybrid / electric model and the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car.
