Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Harris says Brown, 43, was pulled over shortly after noon for talking on his cellphone while driving in the suburb of Reseda. Brown showed signs of intoxication and failed a field sobriety test during the traffic stop at 12:20 p.m..
He was taken to the Los Angeles Police station in Van Nuys, where he was booked on a charge of driving under the influence, Reed said.
It is reported that the singer’s blood alcohol level was .08 or higher at the time of his arrest. Brown has a previous DUI conviction from 1996, when he served eight days in jail for the offence.
Brown was married to Houston for 14 tumultuous years, until they divorced in 2007. During the marriage, Houston dealt with alleged physical abuse and drug use. The singer is currently engaged to Alicia Etheridge.
