Bridgestone Held Groundbreaking Ceremony for Tire Plant in Vietnam image

Today, July 2nd, Bridgestone Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new passenger radial tire plant which will be built in the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone of Hai Phong City, Vietnam.

The ceremony was attended by Mr.Hoang Trung Hai, Deputy Prime Minister of Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Bridgestone’s business partners Kazuhisa Nishigai, COO and Representative Board Member of Bridgestone Corporation, and Susumu Yazaki, President of Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Vietnam Limited Liability Company as well as other government officials. The new passenger radial tire plant will be Bridgestone’s first tire production plant in Vietnam.

“The Bridgestone Group looks forward to contributing to economic growth in Vietnam and Hai Phong City through this new operation, as well as providing employment for its citizens and cultivating new skills in our employees that will position them for future success,” said Nishigai. “The global demand for tires continues to grow, and this plant will play an important part in helping us to meet the needs of our customers around the world.”

The aim of this plant will be exporting replacement tires in Japan, North America and Europe. To be able to keep up with demand in these markets Bridgestone increased production at its Karawang Plant in Indonesia and the Nong Khae Plant in Thailand. Production at the Hai Phong City plant will begin in March 2014.
