Bruce McLaren tribute livery adorns the McLaren 650S GT3 image

Team Garage 59 has decided to paint one of its new McLaren 650S GT3 in a very special color scheme that acts as homage to Bruce McLaren’s team – and its first appearance is scheduled for the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa.

The classic inspiration is coming from the very first racers from the legendary driver and the design even features a Kiwi bird on the roof. The styling is a reworked play on the livery from the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team used between 1962 and 1966 – we see a red front and rear motif with stripes using the same crimson color, yellow, and a green checker pattern is also slapped on the hood, roof, and sides. We also have to take into account the coolness factor – which is represented by the black kiwi on the roof.

These come to pay respect to the national symbol of McLaren’s native New Zealand – Bruce’s cars took the nickname “Speedy Kiwi.” Bruno Senna, Luis Felipe Derani, and Duncan Tappy will helm the McLaren-liveried 650S GT3 during the Spa endurance race and we’re hoping they will perform well during the event on the iconic Belgian racetrack. The 2016 McLaren 650 GT3 was presented not long ago with the same biturbo 3.8-liter V8, a six-speed sequential transmission directing power to the rear wheels and that utterly aggressive body.
