The upcoming Bugatti Chiron will not be influenced in any way by budget cuts made by its parent company, Volkswagen.
Everyone has heard about the “dieselgate” scandal and it hit Volkswagen hard. This has led to the German based automaker prioritizing its future projects and it basically means reorganizing all of its brands, cutting down on losses and interfering with the investment budget. Since Bugatti is owned by VW, the future of the Chiron was uncertain, until recently, when the guys from Jalopnik have assured everyone that the successor of the Veyron will continue as planned, despite these major budget cuts.
Not only will the Bugatti Chiron be developed according to initial plans, but the French based car brand will also debut it in time. The new hypercar will be faster and more powerful than the gone Veyron. It will become once again the fastest road-going production vehicle and it will maintain its 8.0 liter W16 engine. However, this will be upgraded to approximately 1,500 PS and it will allow the Chiron to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just a little over 2 seconds, placing its main competitors into the shade. Top speed will also be mind-blowing as this will go up to more than 450 km/h (280 mph). The average fuel consumption of the hypercar will stand at approximately 20 L / 100 km (14 mpg UK / 11.6 mpg US) and it will destroy its tires, at top speed, in 15 minutes. This is good news actually since a full tank will last only 10 minutes under these conditions.
