Bugatti Veyron #001 sold at Monterey Auction image

The first ever example of the Bugatti Veyron has managed to find a new owner at the Monterey Auction, who had to pay no less than 1,815,000 USD for it.

If you happen to be a fan of the Bugatti Veyron, than #001 is probably the Holy Grail for you but owning it now is close to impossible as it has recently changed owners. The particular hypercar has been sold during the Monterey Auction, recently, for 1,815,000 USD, with the original estimates indicating a price of 1.8m USD – 2.4m USD. The vehicle in question is wearing a two-shade finish on its body, with a dark red and black, riding on silver-finished multi-spoke wheels.

Over its lifetime, it has traveled for just 1,230 km (764 miles) so it can be considered brand new. It has been recently serviced and it shared the same space with another Veyron, a Super Sport model, the 300th vehicle and final coupe made, which has been sold for 2.31 million USD. The Bugatti Veyron has entered production back in 2005 and it stayed until recently, when the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale has been shown, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The hypercar has a longitudinal mid-engine, permanent all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG sequential transmission. Power is being sent to the wheels through an 8.0 liter W16 quad turbocharged engine, in all versions, and in the first one this is rated at 1,000 HP (746 kW). The successor of the Veyron, the so-called Chiron, is just around the corner.
