General Motors will bring a rebadged version of the popular Opel Astra to the United States under the Buick logo.
The rebadged Buick Astra will rival with BMW, Audi or even Mercedes-Benz, as the European brands are becoming more and more popular on the over-seas auto market.
Being more about sensible luxury than performance luxury, General Motors will leave the last one to Cadillac and focus on the new Buick Astra.
The new “American” car model is expected to offer the same engine range as its European “cousin” but, however, the engine range for the three-door version is unclear.
If we take into consideration the fact that it could be manufactured in the US, the three-door Buick Astra could get maybe a V6 or why not place a V8 under that small bonnet and sell it in Europe too? I would buy it just for the engine.
The agreement between Opel and Buick could also bring more rebadged vehicles to the United States auto market and the first one seems to be the Astra model, which is scheduled for 2013.
