Buick teases 2018 Enclave, the first to become an Avenir image

The US automaker has revealed the first teaser for its all-new next generation Enclave SUV, the first in line to receive the Avenir treatment when it premieres on April 11, a day ahead of the 2017 New York International Auto Show.

Following almost a decade of life for the current generation, the Enclave is set to switch to a new architecture, which is coming courtesy of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, bringing a major loss of weight. This new platform also probably means the interior will become available for seven persons, while the powertrains will be carried from the Traverse – including the 3.6-liter V6 engine and the four-cylinder 2.0 turbo. The engines will be mixed with a six-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive. “The timelessly designed premium SUV that laid the groundwork for today’s resurgent Buick,” says the company, which also signals it will have the SUV packed with a wide range of safety systems and a new interior with new infotainment system.

As far as spy photographers were able to reveal, the brand seems to keep the design rather faithful to the old generation, instead taking an evolutionary approach with a radiator grille inspired by the current LaCrosse. The 2018 Enclave will also be the first Buick to get the new Avenir nameplate, “a new luxury sub-brand born to be the ultimate expression of Buick luxury.”
