Cadillac ATS going to Geneva Motor Show

The North American based automaker Cadillac has recently announced that the ATS model will make its European debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next month, before going on sale on the Old Continent in the autumn.

After the new Cadillac ATS has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, time has come for the over-seas developed vehicle to make its European debut too, in an effort to go against popular models such as the new BMW 3-Series, the Audi A4 or the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

“The ATS ticks all the right boxes for European customers. It is stylish quick, nimble and great fun to drive. We are very excited to be adding this superb vehicle to our product portfolio. It has all the right credentials to seriously challenge the status quo in the premium compact segment”, said the Cadillac Europe managing director, Wolfgang Schubert.

As a reminder, the base engine on the Cadillac ATS is a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated inline-four, which is generating 200 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, returning an average of 30 mpg on the highway. Other engine options include the 2.0 liter four-cylinder direct injected turbocharged unit, which is developing a total output of 270 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 260 pound-feet, a significant bump over the 2.0 liter engine in the BMW 3-Series with its 240 HP. The Cadillac ATS will go on sale in Europe this autumn and the prices are expected to start at EUR30,000.
