General Motors has recently tested its new Cadillac ATS, equipped with the V6 engine, on the Nurburgring and on the Phoenix International Raceway.
According to the North American based automaker, the Cadillac ATS with the 3.6 liter V6 engine is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just under 6 seconds, thanks to using advanced materials in order to minimize the weight of the sedan at less than 3,400 pounds.
“We designed and engineered ATS’s vehicle architecture to deliver quick, nimble and fun-to-drive dynamics. We distributed mass to key areas, much like an athlete builds muscle where he needs it most. This enabled ATS to achieve the performance characteristics that luxury sport sedan buyers demand”, said the Cadillac ATS chief engineer, David Masch.
As a quick reminder, the Cadillac ATS has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The over-seas made sedan will go against models like the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the model has a starting price of 33,990 USD for the entry-level version, while the top of the line, equipped with the 3.6 liter V6 unit, with its 320 HP, will cost 42,090 USD.
