The well-known Hilux is a reliable workhorse – and the Japanese company never went for something else, seemingly oblivious to the segment of customers looking for a luxury pickup truck.
Carlex Design is aiming to remedy the issue, with its new Pickup Design project, which comes off the experience gathered for more than a decade of aftermarket work on vehicles spanning from the Mercedes G to the Yamaha V-Max. The rugged pickup truck is specifically modified to handle any terrain – the exterior custom body kit included fabrication using advanced “plastic technology,” and comes complete with new front and rear bumpers, spoiler, arch extensions, sills, insets and even a hood cover. The aggressive wrap bodes well with the BF Goodrich Terrain tires, but there’s even more – an extended wheelbase and Pedders suspension lift-kit.
On the inside, meanwhile, the driver and passengers are bathing in luxury, with everything – seats, dash, and steering wheel finished in a hand-stitched black leather upholstery. There are also new rubber floor mats, new audio system, soundproof doors, and even a soft-close trunk. “The task of Carlex Design was to prepare a complete project of exterior and interior design for chosen models of pickup vehicles,” commented the shop. “This exceptional pickup truck combines what’s best about pickups: expressive exterior design in the form of a unique body kit and a number of off-road modifications, as well as a meticulously handcrafted interior.”
