Volvo: Two new 1.6 GTDi engines
Volvo announced the expand of it’s engine range with two new aluminum based 1.6-liter GTDI engines. Both 1.6 GTDi, the 1.6 GTDi T3 with 150 horsepower (110 kW) and the T4 GTDi with 180 horsepower will be available in the all-new Volvo S60 and V60. The 180 hp engine delivers maximum torque of 240 NM from just 1600 and all the way up to 5000 revs a minute. Volvos to be built in China
China's Geely, that completed the acquisition of Volvo Car Corporation just two weeks ago, plans to build manufacturing facilities to build Volvo cars in Shanghai. According to local press reports, the 800,000sqm factory will open in the second half of 2012 and have a capacity of 300,000 units per year, not far short of Volvo’s total 2008 global sales of 375,000. Official: Geely gets Volvo for $1.8B
Ford Motor Company said Monday that it had completed the sale of its Swedish unit Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Geely says not to move Volvo production out of Sweden
