Caterham has recently pulled the wraps off its latest creation, the Supersport R, which is available from 24,995 GBP in the United Kingdom.
Good news for Caterham fans because the latest model signed by the company has been officially unveiled and it’s wearing the Supersport R name. As you have probably already figured it out, the Caterham Supersport R is based on the Supersport, and the model is coming with race springs, a track oriented suspension and sporty dampers, along with race seats, four-point harnesses, bespoke steering wheel and a gear-shift indicator.
“The Supersport’s formula has struck a chord with driving enthusiasts and we are confident that, by extending the range to include an R model, we will be able to build on the original’s success”, said Graham Macdonald, the Caterham chief executive.
The Caterham Supersport R is powered by a 2.0 liter Ford Duratec engine, which is producing a total output of 180 BHP (134 kW) and it has a peak torque of 194 Nm (143 lb-ft), 40 BHP (30 kW) and 31 Nm of torque (23 lb-ft) more than the Supersport. The unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission which is allowing the model to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Prices for the kit start at 24,995 GBP, while the fully-built versions go on sale from 27,995 GBP.
