After they signed with Manchester United, Chevrolet is now becoming an Official Automotive Partner of Liverpool FC.
The partnership will run until the end of the 2015/16 season, which will include brand visibility at Anfield Stadium, editorial opportunities within the club’s print and digital publications and fan sites, as well as player appearances for commercial opportunities.
Said Ian Ayre, managing director of Liverpool Football Club: “Much like our Club, Chevrolet has a long, rich history with a growing, global brand and this landmark partnership once again demonstrates the value of Liverpool’s international appeal.
The announcement came after GM announced in late May that Chevrolet had inked a five-year sponsorship deal with Manchester United, the world’s most popular soccer club, and also created the Chevrolet China Cup.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Liverpool is one of the world’s most closely followed teams, with official fan groups in cities ranging from New York to Beijing.
Its 81.5 million pound ($126.5 million) worldwide partnership with bank Standard Chartered Plc (STAN) was made as a result of the team’s popularity in Asia, the bank has said.
Liverpool has won eighteen League titles, second most in English football, seven FA Cups and a record eight League Cups. Liverpool has won more European titles than any other English club, having won five European Cups (most recently in 2005), three UEFA Cups and three UEFA Super Cups.
