Chevrolet celebrates 100 birthday with 1 million Cruze models sold image

The North American based automaker Chevrolet has sold one million Cruzes, with the model becoming Chevy’s mid-size sedan back in 2009, being also the best-selling vehicle in the United States. Chevrolet is also celebrating 100 years of existence on November 3, 2011.

“I can’t think of a better birthday present. Cruze’s combination of style, comfort, fuel-efficiency and safety is a hit across the globe. Our customers know a winner when they drive it”, said the vice president of Chevrolet marketing and strategy, Chris Perry.

Named the Holden Cruze in Australia and the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere in South Korea, the Chevrolet Cruze has been in production since 2008, replacing the Chevrolet Cobalt and the Daewoo Lacetti in the compact class with its front-engine and front-wheel drive.

The Chevrolet Motor Company was launched in 1911, on the 3rd of November, in Detroit, when a Swiss-born race car driver and engineer, Louis Chevrolet, teamed up with Billy Duran, the General Motors founder and since then, the company managed to sell over 200 million vehicles worldwide.
