The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced that the COPO Camaro Concept will be hitting the production line.
According to the car manufacturer, COPO Camaro is the brand’s first Camaro drag racing model and it has been designed to compete in Super Stock classes and in NHRA’s Stock Eliminator, an Chevrolet will actually build only 69 COPO Camaro units for 2012.
“The COPO Camaro is going to shake up the sportsman drag racing ranks this summer and give Chevy fans a great new reason to cheer on the Bowtie. COPO builds off the strengths that have made the Camaro the best-selling sports car in America. And while it was developed strictly for drag strip, the COPO Camaro is infused with the same performance pedigree that every Camaro shares”, as the GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles & Motorsports, Jim Campbell, said.
The COPO Camaro in its production version will be available with a choice of three racing-class engines, a naturally aspirated 7.0L and two 5.3L turbocharged V8 units. The model will also get five colors, the Flat Black, Summit White, Victory Red, Silver Ice Metallic and Ashen Gray Metallic, along with COPO graphics and a sequenced build number matched to the engine. Prices for the COPO Camaro will start at 89,000 USD.
