The US automaker has decided the first unit of the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector’s Edition will be up for grabs at an upcoming auction – with the proceeds going to charity.
The model will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction on April 8th, and this first ever 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector’s Edition comes with a Watkins Glen Gray Metallic paint adorned with Tension Blue graphics, satin black stripes, and 19- / 20-inch wheels with a black finish. There’s also a Z06-themed grille, wider rear fenders, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The cabin has more subtle modifications and the future owner will get Tension Blue leather upholstery and suede accents, alongside embroidered headrests and an instrument panel plaque that indicates the car wears VIN #001. Under the hood sits the mighty 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine churning out 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. We don’t know the gearbox choice but the regular Grand Sport can be had with either the seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.
Al the proceeds from the sale will be directed towards the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and the GM Foundation has also made a separate $400,000 donation to the institute. The Corvette Grand Sport will be hitting dealerships this summer and the Corvette Grand Sport Collector’s Edition will be available late this year.
