The Chevrolet Cruze will get a new 1.7 liter VCDi diesel engine in the United Kingdom, as the car manufacturer has recently announced.
“The new 1.7 VCDi gives Chevrolet a real opportunity to compete in the core area of the five-door hatchback market, where tax implications, fuel economy and CO2 emissions are critical. Already a hit with private buyers, this new engine gives Cruze a much more broader appeal to fleets and really helps underline our commitment to growth in this key business area. With the five-door now established in the market and a Station Wagon imminent, the Cruze range keeps getting better and better, and is just what our customers and dealers are requesting”, as the Chevy UK managing director, Mark Terry, says.
The all-new 1.7 liter VCDi diesel engine for Chevrolet Cruze is developing a total output of 130 PS and it has a peak torque of 221 lb-ft (300 Nm), allowing the model to return an average of 72.4 mpg in the UK cycle. The new unit is emitting just 117 g/km of CO2. The Chevrolet Cruze with the 1.7 liter VCDi engine will go on sale in May in the UK and the model will start at 16,725 GBP on the road. The model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).
